TYPICAL PRACTICE PLAN:
Standard Warm Up:
Dynamic stretch
Pump fake powers
Rapid fire shooting OR Rips and Jabs both sides of hoop 5-6 at a basket.
Team shooting drill
- block, block, middle (25,25,25)
- elbow, elbow, middle (15,15,25)
- wing, wing, middle (15,15,25)
- corner, corner, middle (15,15,25)
----240 makes per basket, 5 man teams
Fast break:
5-0 fastbreak
- option 1 (advance to wings for drive)
- option 2 (advance to wings for shot)
- option 3 (advance to wings, wing into post)
- option 4 (trailer 4)
- option 5 (advance to 5)
2-1 fastbreak drill (goal is to simulate 55)
Skill work:
- Split up bigs and guards
- 10 min offense (cutters drills, jab step and rip through drills)
- 10 min defense (closeouts, rotations ect)
Shell Series:
- Pass along perimeter and back
- Skips
- Pounce on dribble up from corner
- Ball screens
1/2 Court Offense:
5-0 1/2 court (go through all plays, UOB's
- Cutters (shot fake and zip pass on each catch)
- 2 play, 2 down, 2 across, 4 across, 5 across, double fist
- black, power, horns under
- thumbs up, thumbs down, 3 into 3 fist
- 4 game, 4 game into X, 4 game into Y
- 2 down, 3 down, 3 across, 4 down, 5 down, 2 up
1/2 Court Defense:
5v5 shell drill walk through on all positions for 15 and 25
1/2 Court Live Work:
5v5 man
5v5 zone
5v5 games (2 scores vs 3 stops ect)
Full Court Live Work:
- 45 (live balls, 1 x down and back or 2 x down and backs)
- 55 (dead balls and sidline)
Shooting drills or team freethrows
Bonus things or things to incorporate:
- 80 in 2 (full court layup drills, 80 layups in 2 min)
- Figure out a warmup drill to help with shot fakes and low post entry bounce passes
- Eventually for skill work I would like to get 3 stations going (1 x offense, 1 x defense, 1 x rebounding with you working as your team, either red or white)
