Training: Active Recovery
Evening:
Endurance:
  • 33 min bike (moderate to fast pace)
Night:
Endurance:
  • 5 mile ruck (40lb pack, 1 hour 20 min)
Daily Reading:
Job 25-28

1.) Facts:
  • Chapter 25 starts out with Bildad showing the infinite distance there is between God and man. He instructs Job to think highly and honorably of God and lowly of ourselves. In the midst of the ongoing debate between Job and his friends, Job actually agrees with Bildad in Chapter 26. Chapter 27 is Job expressing his integrity and the hopelessness and final fate of the wicked. Job searches for the meaning of wisdom in Chapter 28 and finds that wisdom is to fear the Lord and shun evil.
2.) Lessons:
  • 28:28 - "The fear of the Lord is wisdom and to shun evil is understanding."
  • 25:2-6 - “Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven. Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise? How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure? If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot, a human being, who is only a worm!” God is powerful and man is lowly and sinful.
  • 27:5 - "till I die, I will not deny my integrity"
3.) Applications:
  • God is all powerful and we need to show respect to Him by honoring Him through our circumstances and not thinking more highly of ourselves that we ought. No matter what lies in our path we are called to maintain our integrity, fear God and shun evil, for that is the meaning of wisdom.
4.) Daily Meditation:
  • 28:28 - "The fear of the Lord is wisdom and to shun evil is understanding."

Saturday 4.16.11

Wake Up: 4:45 am

Daily Reading: 1 Corinthians 15

Devotion: Streams in the Desert

Workout:

AM:

  • Punishment Ruck: (2.5 hours, 40lb pack)
    • Due to lack of discipline this week in my nutrition and morning devotion time I decided that I did not deserve to take a cheat day today. So I got my ass out of bed at 4:45 and hiked 2.5 hours with a 40lb pack in the snow and wind. Did somewhere between 8-9 miles approx. Great way to start the day off.
  • Pushups: 400
    • 2 min max: (107)
    • Then sets of: (23,20,20,30,25,50,25,60,40) done in between leg and hip stretches.
Notes:

  • Body: good
  • Nutrition: clean
  • Workout: Be excellent in all that you do. I do not have the option of being disciplined in one part of my life and not all. I need to be self-disciplined physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If one part is lacking then I need a complete overhaul, get back to ground zero and build up my base again. I used the ruck to think about these things and get myself back on track.

Thursday 1.6.11

Wake Up:
5:30 am

Devotion:
Streams in the Desert
When you pass through the waters... they will not sweep over you. (Is 43:2)

God does not open paths for us before we come to them, or provide help before help is needed. He does not remove obstacles out of our way before we reach them. Yet when we are at our point of need, God's hand is outstretched.

Many people forget this truth and continually worry about difficulties they envision in the future. They expect God to open and clear many miles of road before them, but He promises to do it step by step, only as their need arises. You must be in the floodwaters before you can claim God's promise. Many people dread death and are distressed that they do not have dying grace. Of course, they will never have the grace for death when they are in good health. Why should they have it while in the midst of life's duties, with death still far away? Living grace is what is needed for life's work and calling, and then dying grace when it is time to die.

Thursday 12.23.10: Daily Disciplines

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Wake Up:
5:30 am

Devotion:
Streams in the Desert
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed. (Heb. 11:8).

Whither he went, he knew not; it was enough for him to know that he went with God. He leant not so much upon the promises as upon the Promiser. He looked not on the difficulties of his lot, but on the King, eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, who had deigned to appoint his course, and would certainly vindicate Himself. O glorious faith! This is thy work, these are thy possibilities; contentment to sail with sealed orders, because of unwavering confidence in the wisdom of the Lord High Admiral; willinghood to rise up, leave all, and follow Christ, because of the glad assurance that earth's best cannot bear comparison with Heaven's least.

It is by no means enough to set out cheerfully with your God on any venture of faith. Tear into smallest pieces any itinerary for the journey which your imagination may have drawn up. Nothing will fall out as you expect.
Your guide will keep to no beaten path. He will lead you by a way such as you never dreamed your eyes would look upon. He knows no fear, and He expects you to fear nothing while He is with you.

The day had gone; alone and weak
I groped my way within a bleak
And sunless land.

The path that led into the light
I could not find! In that dark
night God took my hand.
He led me that I might not stray,
And brought me by a new, safe way
I had not known.

By waters still, through pastures green
I followed Him--the path was clean
Of briar and stone.
The heavy darkness lost its strength,
My waiting eyes beheld at length
The streaking dawn.

On, safely on, through sunrise glow
I walked, my hand in His, and lo,
The night had gone.
